The Top 11 Books I Read in 2021

I read 46 books during 2021 — not quite the 96 I read during 2020, but not bad either. Some of those books I read were better than others. These are the ones that stood out from the rest.

1. Soundtracks by Jon Acuff

I’m a fan of Jon Acuff’s books, mostly because he addresses important topics like work and perfectionism with a humorous approachability. Soundtracks is his deepest book by far, tapping into a subject that anyone should be able to relate to.

In this latest book, he tackles some serious psychological topics that are holding many people back. Using the metaphor of music proves to be a pretty effective way to approach these toxic patterns. What might seem a little new-age at first can actually prove to be very helpful for many.

2. The 22 Murders of Madison May by Max Barry

Max Barry’s novel Providence made my top list last year; and although The 22 Murders of Madison May is quite different from that sci-fi work, it’s equally as good. In fact, it speaks to Barry’s wide range as an author, which roams from harder science to the more entertainment-friendly stuff found here.
