Intro to CRO and Experimentation

  • Failures are what we want and we need to learn from them.
  • Mainly we need to do this fast. CRO is a tool to fail fast.
  • It’s hard to find examples of website launch failures, but they’re out there. It’s better to know you failed rather than ship without knowing what happened.
  • This is because the company is focused on output and not outcome
  • CRO seeks a structured and standardized process to learn faster and fail smaller.
  • We must ask questions and collect data at the same time to get reliable answers.
  • We’re bad at decision-making because there’s too much info and not enough meaning.
  • “The human mind doesn’t run on logic any more than a horse runs on petrol.” — Rory Sutherland
  • Data is created equal, but we treat it as if it is, especially when it confirms our bias.
